Cover the basics of providing personal care to people. Suitable for: Non-care staff such as housekeepers, domestic and catering staff, reception and administrative staff who have not previously received training in the core principles that underpin working in a care environment.

Learning outcomes and objectives
- To understand the principles of anti-discriminatory practice.
- To understand the legislation that impacts on working in a care environment.
- To understand the importance of effective communication, the barriers to communication and the principles of confidentiality in relation to residents and service-users.
- To understand the importance of maintaining and promoting an individual’s self-identity, rights and choices.
- To understand the importance of teamwork within a care environment.
