The autism spectrum disorder (ASD) professional learning network (PLN) is for teachers with a professional interest in ASD.
This PLN is made up of like-minded colleagues seeking to develop and exchange professional expertise. It's a way for members to keep up to date with the latest research, policy and practice in ASD and how this might be applied in your individual settings.
The network meets once a term and sessions focus on knowledge exchange around ASD through research discussion. (You don't have to be a member to attend the sessions.)
This network is run by the Centre for Inclusive Education (formerly SENJIT) at the UCL Institute of Education (IOE).

Course programme
The PLN meets once a term. Participation in the network is for a year.
The network is self-steering and led by member practitioners in order to ensure the direction reflects the needs and interests of the members.
You're encouraged to bring along case studies that focus on children struggling with ASD and examples of good practice.
A member of staff from the Centre for Inclusive Education (usually Dr Amelia Roberts) will also join the group to support facilitation, provide up-to-date information, share research and link with researchers that PLN members may wish to invite to speak with the group.
Other topics are likely to include:
- early identification
- high quality teaching for pupils with ASD
- sensory processing needs
- assistive and augmentative communication strategies
- evidence based interventions
- pupil and parent voice
