NVQ Level 2 in Providing Security Services

How does this qualification improve my career prospects?

This course can lead to career progression within the security sector.

What does it involve?

The learner will be assessed in their work place through naturally occurring work activity through observations and other assessment techniques.

Candidates are required to take eight units: five mandatory units plus three optional units.

Mandatory Units (All Five):

  • Minimise and respond to health and safety risks in your workplace
  • Control security incidents
  • Communicate effectively in the work place
  • Produce documents manually
  • Give Customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.

Optional Units (Select Three):

  • Maintain the security of property and premises through observation
  • Maintain CCTV video tape libraries and preserve potential evidence
  • Control entry to and exit from premises
  • Maintain the operational performance of CCTV systems
  • Carryout searches of people and their property for unauthorised items
  • Provide covert security in retail environments
  • Provide Security at licensed venues
  • Detect loss and theft in retail environments
  • Carry out searches of vehicles for unauthorised items
  • Control a guard dog under operational conditions
  • Arrest people suspected of committing an offence
  • Prevent unauthorised items passing through passenger ports
  • Deal with disorderly and aggressive behaviour
  • Present evidence in court and at other hearings
  • Monitor areas using CCTV systems
  • Produce documents using word processing software.
