Course programme

Background to the Course

Workplace inspections are important elements of a company’s safety management system and if properly carried out and followed up, play a vital role in ensuring safety in the workplace and the reinforcement of a positive safety culture.
They are particularly important in the hazardous quarrying industry and this is recognised in regulation12 of the Quarries Regulations, 1999 which requires the operator to keep up to date a suitable written scheme for the systematic inspection, maintenance, and, where appropriate, testing of designated parts of the quarry and its plant and equipment. The regulation also requires that written reports are maintained and that there are sufficient persons appointed to carry out the inspections, maintenance and testing. This course is intended to provide a sound foundation for those who carry out workplace inspections.
