Course programme

Course review:

Axure RP is an industry-leading digital prototyping tool, used by over 30,000 professionals for communicating design ideas beyond paper sketching, storyboards, scenarios etc.

This hands-on course assumes no prior knowledge of Axure RP and will equip you with the skills needed to immediately feel the benefit of interactive prototyping.

If you have a stake in improving your digital content and have ideas for how this should be done - this is for you.

Brief description:

Axure RP allows you to rapidly prototype desktop and mobile interfaces and produce testable, sharable, HTML, viewable in a browser without touching a line of code.

With it you can:

  • Create bare bones wireframes OR rich design
  • Stop wondering what an existing feature would look like somewhere else, or how a new feature would look by quickly trying things out
  • Prove a crazy idea WILL work
  • Prove a crazy idea WON'T work
  • Create annotated templates and give them to developers
  • Make functional widgets such as carousels, tabs and accordions
  • Create mobile designs to view and test on your mobile device
  • Share a link to your prototype with clients, colleagues or users and get feedback right there and then.

This course will teach you how to prototype, test and refine web pages, desktop apps, mobile apps, individual elements and widgets at a fraction of the time and cost of getting something built and optimising later.

What you will learn Some of the topics covered in this beginner to intermediate course include:

  • Getting to know the interface (orientation)
  • Understanding widget properties (what can I do with these things)
  • Colours, gradients, line spacing (how to make things look good)
  • Guides and grids (helping you create tidy prototypes)
  • Site maps and masters (information architecture)
  • Annotation (how to describe elements for other people)
  • Basic interactions (create links and buttons)
  • Widget libraries (what are they and where can you get more)
  • Generating your prototype (view it in the browser)
  • Sharing (how to distribute your prototype)
  • Feedback (how to test and how to gather comments)
  • Screen grabbing and snippets (how to pinch stuff from live sites)
  • Basic dynamic panel use (making stuff appear and disappear on button click or link roll over)
  • Advanced course taster (you can do what!?)
