To gain understanding of the principles of Restorative Justice as a diversionary measure within the UK Criminal Justice System including processes practices and outcome and how such processes and practices affect offenders, victims and community in terms of outcome.
Course intended for community rehabilitation practitioners that are new to the field of Restorative Justice as a diversionary rehabilitation measure in reducing recidivism among adults and young people offenders.

Course programme
Students are introduced to the diversionary rehabilitation measure of restorative justice principles and how in both theory and practices RJ functions as a measure in reducing recidivism among adults and young offenders. Questions are mainly aimed at does RJ work as a rehabilitation measure; the offender, victim and the community and the concepts of restitution; practical exercises are undertaken throughout to highlight how RJ works in practice and process including numerous shortcomings.
