About this course

It is expected that participants on this course will have either undertaken the Safeguarding Children Foundation (SCF) course or similar within the last three years of current practice.
The candiates will be in a position to contribute to constructive activities and discussions relating to practice.

This is a two day course and is specifically designed for those practitioners and their managers who have safeguarding responsibilities for their organisation, Senior practitioners and Designated Persons (DP's) within organisations, have found this course of particular use.
The course is also recommended for those who's duties would require them to give evidence in Court or participate in Case Conference or Core Groups or Professionals meetings.
The course looks in detail at specific high profile cases both local and national and draws analogies from these cases.
Participants will look at all aspects of Physical, Emotional and Sexual abuse and issues of Neglect in depth exploring differing ways of responding to them.
The course encourages participants to explore key aspects of child abuse and it's causes.
Candidates will review research which informs this area.
Candidates will be encouraged to develoop networks of support.
The course is designed to increase candidate confidence in their role in safeguarding children.
The course will help candidates understand others roles in safeguarding and child protection and the roles of the Local Safeguarding Children Board.
The course will develop working knowledge of how legislation is changing and does change moving away from the ECM agenda whilst maintaining the change for children programme and recognise the national framework in relation to safeguarding children.
The course assists staff recognise personal and organisational good practice to safeguarding the welfare of children and helps staff to evidence this for for supervision and inspection purposes.
The course introduces working issues like;
Private fostering,
Working with disabled children,
Domestic Abuse and MARAC,
Introduces The Assessment Framework.
Effective Recording and Reprt Writing.
Sections 17 & 47,
Strategy meetings,
Case conferencing, coregroups and professionals meetings.
Roles of Chairperson, etc
Reporting timescales.
Information sharing.
and finally how to get help if required with a local contact list and useful telephone numbers / e-mails etc.
