Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) Level 2 & Safeguarding Children and Young Adults (POCA) Level 2

Under the UK law, all Health and Social Care professionals working with vulnerable adults are required to pass a training course for the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA). This course aims to provide Health and Social Care workers with some of the key knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and respond to signs of abuse. This includes being able to identify and report concerns about the abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults and to understand the worker’s role in the investigation process.

This course aims to provide key knowledge regarding issues related to "safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people". This includes understanding key safeguarding definitions, recognising types of child abuse and knowing how to deal with suspected/reported cases of abuse in an appropriate fashion. The course also addresses professional responsibilities towards children; knowing how to react and prevent child abuse; handle information about a child and their guardian. The aim of the course is to make Health and Social Care workers aware of their role in Safeguarding Children and Young Adults.
