Recording routine business transactions through to the preparation of final accounts within the Sage computerised accounting package.

What does the course involve?
The course covers basic double-entry accounting procedures within the context of a computerised book-keeping system. Students will learn through discussion, demonstration and practical exercises.

What will I study?
Banking Receipts, payments & recurring entries. Bank reconciliation of statements.

Capital purchases Maintaining a Fixed Asset Register.

Miscellaneous transactions Write off small values, refunds overpayments. Contra purchase and sales ledger transactions.

Month & Year End adjustments, routines & reports Preparing VAT returns. Asset disposal & depreciation, Accruals & Prepayments. Credit Control. Management & financial reports.

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable if you wish to develop your computerised book-keeping skills for your business, your job or keep track of finances using Sage Accounting software or anyone who has completed Sage Basics course.

What experience will I need?
The course will assume that you have basic keyboard and mouse skills with some working knowledge of other software packages such as Word Processing. A knowledge of computerised accounts, book-keeping/accounts experience or qualification is an advantage but not essential. Your tutor will fully support you and give assistance when required.

What will I need to bring to the course?
The equipment and course books will be provided for the duration of the course, but you may wish to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes.

Will I have to sit an exam?
No, this is not a qualifying course, but ongoing informal assessments will check your understanding.
