The course explores the skills and processes required to take a play and create a fully finished design and scale model based on that text. The choice of play could either be a personal project, a play that a learner has already begun designing or always wanted to do, or a play allocated by your tutor. Either way, you will learn the details of text analysis and how to develop design ideas from this analysis. Then you will be shown how to build a scale model box of a theatre space. After this preparation you will then go on to develop the design for a set within this theatre model. You will have model-making skills taught throughout to enable you to complete a fully finished design model.

Additional information
You could choose to study more about model making, then VX328 Set Design Model Making for Beginners could be adjusted to accomodate a more experienced approach. Also, VX107 Introduction to Costume design is another good choice as designers in theatre are frequently asked to design both set and costume in the professional theatre.
