Course programme
We will explore extracts from several plays including Hamlet, Othello, Richard the Third, The Merchant of Venice, Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream. We will read, view and discuss these extracts in terms of language, characterisation, structure, imagery and their power in performance. By looking at a variety of performances of one play, we will explore the possibilities of a range of interpretations. If there is time and students would like to do it, we will do some performing ourselves.
