Course programme

Once you have chosen your style, you'll move onto creating a pattern, before being shown how to cut and sectionalize all the individual pieces of the patterns. The tutor will demonstrate the skills needed to identify the different upper materials and hand cutting techniques as well as explaining the many methods of shaping, forming and stitching involved in constructing a completed pair of boots.

The course includes:

  • Understanding pattern cutting for boots
  • Reference to leather quality and grades for boot and shoe making
  • Understanding of closing machine and techniques
  • Attaching heels and soles
  • Lasting procedure (shaping and moulding the leather)

Please note:

While every effort will be made to meet your size requirements, please be aware that it may not always be possible to make the shoe in your desired size. This is a shoe making course and not a design course therefore the shoe style you make will be determined by the capabilities of the studio. We provide the leather for your boot.
