Course programme

What will I learn?

Course will include health and safety in construction, basic tool skills and maintenance, setting out joist and stud partitioning, fi xing skirting and architrave, door hanging, fi xing locks, manufacturing of basic joinery and functional skills

How will I be assessed?

Criteria-based course with eight units, knowledge test after each unit and a fi nal multiple choice test Practical skills are assessed through 25 projects plus one 18-hour timed task

What may it lead to?

You can progress onto Level 3 courses at out Swale and Canterbury Campuses or into employment

Entry Requirements

You must have either Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery or a Foundation Construction Award, with GCSE passes at grade C to E Entry is subject to interview, assignment set by tutors and participation in a taster day

Additional Information & Other Costs

You will be required to wear overalls and strong footwear
