Discover and sketch London's many fantastic markets, from the popular to the city's hidden gems. Savour the sights and local sounds and the lure of the bargain hunter. This course will introduce you to London's authentic markets from veg to vintage, flowers and food - Lower Marsh to leather lane, Berwick to Borough Markets. Each day we will visit a new market and draw on location capturing the character and details of the market.

Course programme

Topics covered

Using different media and materials with helpful tutorial advice, you will learn how to capture and record through drawing the atmosphere of the markets and build up a sketchbook of lively drawing.

In the afternoon you will work up the sketches and create more substantial drawings using the research you have gathered.
You will experiment with a variety of different materials (acrylic and watercolour, different papers and simple printing techniques).
