Art Appreciation: Exploring London's Art Collections
Course content:
This course looks at several major collections of 15th to 19th century art in London, using a look at the historical development of the collections as a springboard for looking at the most significant works in the collection and how they relate to art history as a whole. All of the collections are in London; most are free, and can be visited independently outside class hours as an optional supplement to the course. Extra materials will also be available online on stcLIVE.
At the end of the course you will:
- Have knowledge of several Art collections.
- Have knowledge of Art History, via several key artists, and the historical context.
- Have optionally and independently visited several art galleries in London.
Course Structure:
A lecture and powerpoint presentation each week, with reading and visual material on stcLIVE.
Course resources:
Visual material with reading material, both on stcLIVE.
Assessment:
Teacher feedback. Self assessment with Individual Student Progress Records.

Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
