Prepare yourself for a career working in community settings with people of all ages, backgrounds or ethnicities with this course which focuses on bringing about positive change in lives and social relationships. This is achieved by understanding events and interactions through dialogue and critical reflection. Social pedagogy is concerned with holistic education, care and wellbeing. The theory and practice of social pedagogy is well-established in many countries and UK employers have now developed a keen interest in its use in social and health based occupations (examples include youth justice, foster care, forest schools, youth work, residential care, community development and public health). Advocacy is concerned with supporting others to have their voice heard on issues that are important to them; and enabling them to defend, promote and safeguard their rights. Participation is about getting people involved in decisions and taking action to bring about change. This degree will equip you with the experience, skills and knowledge needed for employment in this sector.
