Course programme

Course Content Units you will study
  • Year 1

Focusing on public service organisations like police, the National Health Service, schools, housing associations, the civil service and local authorities, this course takes a close look at the services they provide. You will examine the legal, political and social climate in which these organisations operate, investigating the policies governing their actions and the needs which their services are designed to meet. The degree looks at how these organisations are managed and are changing in response to recent government policies such as contracting-out services to the private and voluntary sectors, electronic delivery of public services, customer choice and performance measurement. Recent multi-agency partnerships in urban regeneration and crime prevention will also be considered.

Units of study may include Modern British Politics and Skills for Success as core modules and then you may choose between either Criminal Justice Policy or Transatlantic Public Administration and Policy.
