What stands out about this course?

Do you think racism or sexism exists in Britain today? Why did the riots happen in London in the summer of 2011? These are questions that sociologists investigate with the use of research and theoretical analysis. Sociology is the study of people in a contemporary world. You will examine the processes that shape behaviour such as education, media, family or religion as well as aspects of identity that influence opportunity such as ethnicity, gender, social class and age. Sociology develops an extensive range of skills for a wide range of jobs such as critical thinking, essay writing, interpretation of complex texts and analysis of research methods.
