Spanish Beginners level 3
Your Course
This course is suitable for those who have already studied Spanish for 2 terms. The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the foreign language. It aims to enable students to understand and use Spanish effectively for purposes of practical communication, to develop some understanding of grammar and to offer insights into the culture of Spanish speaking countries.
All students will be registered for the OCR Asset language [Breakthrough] award in listening to and understanding Spanish at Beginners' level. This assessment will take place within a normal classroom environment
The course book is 'Pasos 1' chapter 7-10. There will be supplementary material provided.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to:
· Express likes and dislikes; pastimes, activities and food
· Describe your free time
· Give opinions about your town
· Accept or refuse invitations; explain problems and give advice
· Discuss future plans
· Arrange to go the cinema/theatre ask about times and buy tickets
· Buy train tickets, enquire about departure and arrival times, understand station announcements
You will also learn some basic grammar including the present and future tenses, personal and object pronouns and adjectives describing feelings.
You will have the opportunity to obtain through assessment a nationally recognised qualification in listening at Beginners' level.
Your Tutor
Francisco Garcia Fernandez is a native speaker from Granada, Spain. He has a degree in Slavonic Studies, a Masters in Russian Literature and he is finishing an online Masters in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. Further more, he is qualified to assess DELE exams. He has taught Spanish in Russia and Spain and worked as a Russian translator.
Day and time: Monday 7-9 pm

Tuition fees: £90
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
Half term:
Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
