This course is offered as part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. You will take 3 Higher Level subjects and 3 Standard Level subjects and complete components in Theory of Knowledge, Creativity Action Service and an Extended Essay.
Course overview
The ab initio course in Spanish is a 2 year course for students who have no previous knowledge of the language. The main focus of the course is based on topics which will prepare the student for everyday situations in a Spanish-speaking environment.
The topics covered will be:
- The individual
- Education and work
- Town and services
- Food and drink
- Leisure and travel
- The environment
- Health and emergencies
How you will learn
You will develop the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in Spanish in a limited range of situations, understand spoken and written language of a fairly straightforward nature and show an awareness of some elements of the culture of the Spanish-speaking world.

Individual oral examination [15%]
