Spanish Improvers (Daytime)
Your Course
This course is suitable for those students who have already studied Spanish for about one year. Instruction is given in Spanish using visual and audio supports. The course aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. It enables students to understand native Spanish speakers and will help them in practical conversation. Come and learn Spanish in a fun and relaxed atmosphere through role-play, music and games.
During the course students will take short internal assessments in speaking Spanish at Preliminary level. This will help to prepare them for the OCR Asset language tests that will be taken at the end of the Improvers' year.
'Pasos 1' will be used as a focus for study and additional supplementary material will be provided.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have covered the following main topic areas:
· Making an appointment at the Doctor's, describing symptoms, buying items from a Chemist's.
· Asking and saying what someone has done today/this week/this month.
· Reporting lost property; saying where and when you lost something.
· Describing personal property: material, colour and size.
· Describing what you were doing when something happened.
· Describing a robbery or an accident.
· Fiestas.
You will also have covered the following main grammar points:
· The perfect tense
· The imperfect tense
· The preterite versus the imperfect
· Possessive adjectives
· Weak object pronouns
Your Tutor
Jenny Fleck has an MA from the University of Cambridge in Spanish and French, plus a PGCE. She has taught Spanish from Beginners level to Advanced level in local secondary schools and was Head of the Spanish Department at the Bishop's Stortford High School. She also has experience of teaching adults. She is currently Adult Education Co-Ordinator for Modern Languages here at the College.

Tuition fees: £95
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Pleae note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
