Course programme
Understanding coaching roles and responsibilities is essential if a coach is to successfully lead and support people to improve sports performance. You will also develop an in depth understanding of physiological, psychological and biomechanical theories, and how they can be used to assist performance enhancement.
This pathway is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in teaching sport after graduation. Like all of our sports pathways, you can either apply directly to this course, or apply to the general BSc Sport and Exercise Science programme and choose your final award at the end of year two.
A large part of your studies will be practice based at our Allianz Park site, and you will take part in 150 hours of clinical practice through two work placements.
What will you gain?
You will graduate, armed with the knowledge and understanding of:
- Sports psychology and how to work effectively with sports people
- The nutritional needs of the physically active and professional athletes
- The techniques and procedures used to assess physical fitness and well being
- The basic effects of pharmacological agents on exercise performance, disease and health
