Where does it lead?

The BTEC First Diploma can lead to the BTEC National Certifcate and is also an ideal preparation for work in the leisure and sport industry. The BTEC National Certifcate can lead to a sports related degree or straight into employment in leisure and sports centres or related work.

These courses combine very well with Sports Development courses, the Community Sport Leader Award, and AS Physical Education.

These are both entirely sports related courses, ideal for performers at any level, but you must have genuine enthusiasm and interest. The First Diploma lasts for one year, consisting of six units and is equivalent to four GCSEs. The BTEC National Certifcate consists of 12 units, runs over two years and is the equivalent of two A levels.

These are work related courses with assignments and projects based on realistic work place situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop skills and knowledge of coaching and the relevant biology needed to start a career. There is a practical element to both these courses.
