This top-up course develops the skills and specialist knowledge appropriate for careers in sports training and coaching, or exercise and health. It specifically builds on the Sport and Fitness foundation degree, but can also be used as a top-up for similar sport and exercise science programmes with vocational relevance.

Course structure
In addition to the major Applied and Integrated Vocational Studies module, students can choose from a range of options allowing them to specialise in an area of personal interest or to keep a wide breadth of study. Options cover areas such as sport and exercise physiology, psychology, nutrition, biomechanical analysis, coaching and sport development.
An extended work placement enables students to build practical experience whilst applying their knowledge in relevant settings. Examples of previous placements include Reed Health and Fitness Club, Downs Hotel Football Club, Bracknell Forest Schools Sports Partnership, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Leisure Centre.
Career and progression opportunities
The course prepares students to enter the work force with evidence of relevant experience, skills and intellectual knowledge related to sport and fitness. Employment opportunities include fitness instruction, personal trainers, coaching, sports science support, health promotion and sports development. Graduates can also progress to further study at masters level in sport or exercise-related areas.
