This two year course is designed to provide you with the opportunity to develop both vocational skills and academic knowledge simultaneously. You will learn about the scientific basis of sport and exercise science and how performance can be enhanced through understanding of scientific principles.
The content of this programme is varied and incorporates many facets of sport science. It provides an introduction to sport and exercise sciences where you learn about human anatomy, sport psychology and simple biomechanics. These foundations are later developed with further study where more detailed exploration of theory is covered. Additionally, you will develop skills in research which are vital for further study.

Entry Requirements

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: UCAS Tariff Points: Pre-2017 Entry - 100 points, Post-2017 Entry - 40 points The tariff points can be made up of: A Levels (GCE and VCE): 1 A Level at Grade D and 1 A Level at Grade E BTEC Extended Diploma: Grade PPP BTEC Diploma: Grade MP BTEC 90 Credit Diploma: Grade MM Access to HE: Grade P45 Minimum number of GCSEs at Grade C or above: 0 NON-ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: DBS Clearance

Delivery and Assessment

Students will be assessed using a range of methods including report writing, presentations, written reports, videos and examinations.

Progression

Course graduates can progress onto the final year of the BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Wolverhampton. Alternatively graduates can pursue a variety of sports careers including public services, coaching, teaching, sport development, personal instructor or sport marketing. Additionally, the course can be used to apply to other higher full degree programmes - although entry may be onto the second year, rather than the third year as in the case with the University of Wolverhampton programme.
