Course Overview
This course is suitable for anyone with an initial interest in fitness as a career who does not have the recognised attainment for Level 2 or who requires additional support.
Course Structure
The programme is delivered over one academic year (36 weeks). The following topics will be covered:

- Organising a Sport or Leisure Event
- Issues in Sport and Leisure
- Taking Part in Sport
- Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
- Personal Exercise Programmes
- Resistance Training
- Literacy and Numeracy
More able students mayhave the opportunity of working towards additional Level 2 units of Fitness.
Qualification Aims
BTEC Introductory Diploma in Sport and Leisure.
Introductory Certificate in Exercise and Fitness Instructing
Assessments/Examinations
Continual written and practical assignments are carried out in both theory and practical aspects of the course to meet awarding body requirements. A portfolio of evidence is compiled throughout the course and submitted for final verification.

If you are 19 years of age or over at the start of the course, the tuition fee's may be payable for£495 per year.
Free tuition is available to those in receipt of certain means tested benefits or totheir un-waged dependants.
