About this course

- an understanding of the ideas - cultural and political - that influenced the music Sibelius produced in the late19th & early 20th centuries.

- knowledge of the musical influences involved in creating this new Finnish sound world

- an understanding of the formal, harmonic and melodic characteristics of certain key works by Sibelius.
