Course Description
Statistical techniques are now used throughout all modern business and industry for analysis of data and to help make decisions about the future. This course gives an understanding of some of these techniques and shows how to apply useful mathsskills to real situations. It is particularly useful if you are studying Psychology, Business Studies, Economics, Geography or Biology. Classes meet for four lessons each week in both year 1 and 2.

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, usually including English and Maths.

Modules Studied:

  • Numerical measures, Probability, Binomial Distribution, Normal Distribution,Estimation, Correlation and Regression.
  • Time Series Analysis, Sampling, Discrete Probability Distributions, Interpretation of Data, Application of Hypothesis Testing.
  • Application of Contingency Tables in Real-world situations, Distribution Free Methods, Correlation.
  • Continuous Probability Distributions, Distributional Approximations, Estimation in a Real-world Context,Application of Hypothesis Testing.
  • The Rectangular and Exponential Distributions. Confidence intervals for variance and standard deviation. More Hypothesis Testing.
  • Experimental Design, Analysis of Variance, Statistical Process Control, Acceptance Sampling.
