Course content:
The course covers the following:
  • Fire theory.
  • Use of extinguishers, hoses and nozzles
  • Breathing apparratus.

Equipment required - Coveralls, old clothing, soap and towel.

Assessment procedure:
Continuous assesment by observation and questioning of learning outcomes.


Qualifications achieved:
STCW 95 Basic Training - Fire Prevention and Fire-Fighting

Progression opportunities:
Required under STCW ' 95 for new entrants to the Merchant Navy as part of the mandatory Basic Familiarisation Training.
