This is a one year, full time course that is designed to engage those learners who hope to progress with their academic studies.
The main qualification is the Entry 2 OCR Certificate in Life & Living Skills. This is supported by additional essential skills units in both communication and application of number. Learners will also be involved in the 'John Muir’ Environmental Award and vocational electives.

About this course
On successful completion of this course, learners could progress onto the Pre Foundation course or explore work preparation courses at Entry 3 level.
There are no formal entry requirements, however learners will be required to be working at Entry Level 2/3.
All potential learners will be expected to undertake an interview and an initial essential skills assessment in both literacy and numeracy.

Course programme
The main aim of this course is to assist in the development of independent learning skills and gaining an awareness of potential progress routes within the Further Education structure.
In order to make individual choices of potential learning routes, learners will be introduced to a range of specialist faculty areas including Art and Design, Health and Social Care, Sport, Engineering and Catering.
The course is delivered and assessed through assignments and portfolios. Evidence is gathered in various forms including written, oral, photographic and practical activities.
