Year 1

The course covers all aspects of food and beverage service supervision. It will deliver the key skills you require to ensure you will have a thorough understanding of the role and expectation that any future employer will expect of you.
The course is taught and assessed in the College’s award-winning, industry-standard taste restaurant. Related theory is taught in classrooms.

Additional information

You will undertake a formal written exam which will include: leadership and team development; hospitality services business operations; principles of beverage service; gastronomy and the dining experience; and health and safety. Your practical skills will be assessed with a three-part synoptic test. Part one will take the form of a planning session, part two will be a practical assessment and part three will summarise your overall assessment performance. Assessments will be externally marked by the awarding body. The typical assignment for this qualification would be to run a hospitality event. Candidates will be required to conduct research, allocate resources, supervise the event and evaluate its success.
