This course will equip newly appointed or aspiring supervisors with valuable insights into the role, along with practical skills and techniques essential for success. Some well known management and leadership theories will be introduced but the content will focus primarily on raising self awareness and developing the key skills that will assist supervisors in their carrying out their role day to day.
There will be ample opportunity for discussion and for addressing individual learning needs.

About this course
By undertaking this course participants will learn to:
Recognise the roles and responsibilities for being a supervisor along with the boundaries.
Use communication methods suitable for team members and purpose.
Adopt a leadership style appropriate to the situation.
Deal with performance or conduct issues with more confidently and effectively
This course is intended primarily anyone who is fairly new to a supervisory or first-line management role.
There are no formal entry requirements.
Course attendance certificates can be provided on request.
The course tutor is experienced in delivering management courses at all levels including qualification courses such as ILM and CMi. This breadth of experience means the tutor can respond to and adapt content to suit all learners.
Requests for information will be dealt with promptly via email initially. Further discussion and telephone contact will be made if appropriate.
This course can be delivered for in-house groups with content adapted according to the type of business.
Group sizes are small, typically 6 - 10, so that the learning climate is informal with plenty of time for individual attention.

Course programme
This one day course is aimed at newly appointed supervisors or first-line managers, as well as those already working in these roles who would benefit from some formal training.
The course includes some theoretical input on leaderhip styles but the emphasis is on developing an understanding of the role along with the key skills to ensure a successful transition into the role.
