About this course

Candidates must be employed or volunteering in a supporting role within a school. Were commend that students work for a minimum of 10 hours per week. It may also be necessary to extend this time to gather additional evidence to meet the standards.

Course Overview
This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for non-teaching support staff within the school setting, such as midday meal supervisors, learning support, catering and after school club leaders. The award is designed to develop an awareness of school values, policies and procedures in relation to the pupils- needs. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their own role in this area in order to provide effective support.

Course Structure
The course will be delivered over 20 weeks consisting of 6 x 2 hour taught sessions 2 x 1-1 workplace assessments and self study/portfolio building.

Qualification Aims
To equip students with the knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities within their school setting. Successful achievement will enable students to progress to Level 3 SWiS.

Assessments/Examinations
The course is assessment based and requires students to compile a portfolio of evidence. This will include observations and testimonies of your working practice from an expert witness, questioning, products of activities in which you have been involved and personal accounts. All of this will be guided and supported through weekly college sessions with your tutor and assessor.
