Programmes aim to equip learners with the skills, confidence and capabilities required in order to reach their own goals for learning, life and work. Programme aims are achieved by:



  • Development of Self Advocacy Skills

  • Engagement in Community Action Projects

  • Enhancement of Digital Technology Skills

  • Development of Employability Skills (relevant to the individual’s intended progression pathway)

  • Adapting Curriculum Activities to Suit the Interests and Needs of Learners

  • Integrating a Wide Range of Enrichment Activities into the Main Curriculum

  • Embedding English and Maths within all Curriculum Subjects


Course Content

Access to a wide range of specialist resources and facilities provides exciting opportunities for learners to develop their skills in an active environment. Resources include café and training kitchens, specialist workshops and facilities to support the development of horticultural skills.


Learners will have the opportunity to follow personalised learning programmes through a wide range of exciting subjects*. A practical teaching and learning method is preferred and learning takes place in both educational and community contexts.


Supported Studies Curriculum components include:

  • Catering/Cookery Skills

  • Media, Photography and ICT

  • Horticulture

  • Community Engagement

  • Independent Living Skills

  • Recreational and Leisure Skills

  • Optional Residential Experience

  • Enterprise Activities and Fundraising

  • English and Maths

Entry Requirements

Course offer is subject to a successful interview and initial assessment. In addition, learners need to show a commitment and willingness to work towards agreed goals and participate in all of the course activities.

Course Progression

Following completion of a Supported Studies programme, learners may be able to progress to further study programmes

within this area or progress to a STEPS (Supported Transition and Employment Pathways) or Learning for Living and Work

programme.

Applying for a Full-Time course


Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
You will receive the details of your first day over the summer period,
