This qualification will provide an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools. You will learn about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication, how schools are organised and how learning is assessed. It is suitable for those with classroom experience (either paid or unpaid) and who wish to work in unsupervised roles that support pupils’ learning. If not employed in the sector, you will be required to find a placement and attend for a minimum of 8 hours a week.

When will I study and how will I be assessed?
As a part time learner you will attend College 3 hours a week for the duration of your course. Day time or evening study sessions available. You will complete a range of tasks and build a portfolio of evidence. In addition you will be assigned an assessor who will come out to observe your practice in the workplace. You will complete the course within the academic year.
