Course programme

The course leads to a Teaching Assistant qualification and covers a wide range of areas including the development of children and young people, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and communication & professional relationships. To achieve the Level 2 Certificate, you must complete nine Mandatory Units making up 24 credits and an extra two Optional Units depending on your work role. Some of the Units are assessed through written assignments and some through workplace practice. We also offer a Level 2 and 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Apprenticeship that is suitable for those who are supporting teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special needs schools. This course is run in conjunction with City Training Services on a day release basis with starts throughout the year. You will attend courses either at Bradford College or in a community setting.
