2. Course description You'll study towards an NVQ Level 5 in Construction Management (Sustainability) and a Higher National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. You'll have the opportunity to specialise in one of three pathways: construction and the built environment, building services engineering or civil engineering. You'll have the opportunity to apply critical reasoning and analysis techniques to solve built environment and engineering problems using industry standards, appropriate codes of practice and work-based evidence. Fundamental aspects of designing, creating and conserving the built environment will form a key part of the course, with a need for assessment of the environmental impact at work. You'll study a variety of modules depending on the pathway you choose including: • sustainable construction • design and management principles • energy utilisation and efficiency • environmental management • measuring, tendering and estimating • site surveying • science and materials • health, safety and welfare • applied mathematics • site surveying procedures • civil engineering technology • structural analysis and design • heating and air conditioning

Entry requirements You will need one of the following, or an equivalent qualification: • one A Level at ‘A2' at grade C or two at grade E (80 UCAS points) • a BTEC Extended Diploma or Subsidiary Diploma • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship You'll need to be employed in the construction industry, having completed an Advanced Apprenticeship, or be wanting to progress to a technician or management role. If you are a mature learner returning to the industry with appropriate qualifications or experience, you are welcome to apply. 4. Equipment required Where appropriate, any equipment required (e.g. protective clothing) will be discussed with you at interview/enrolment.
