Objectives:

To be capable of carrying out service/repair/examination in a safe manner in accordance with Manufacturers recommendations, accepted good practice and in particular meeting the LOLER Regs '98 (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations - Regulation 9) PUWER'98 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Reg's ) The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Reg's'92 and complying with general health & safety legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

To provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to maintain/inspect safely in accordance with good maintenance practices and relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
Content:
· Welcome and introductions.
· Health and Safety Legal Requirements, and associated legislation - LOLER'98/PUWER'98.
· Explanation of British Standards and C.E Regulations.
· Introduction to tail lift terms.
· Instruction in safe working practices.
· Introduction to tail lifts, controls and associated components.
· Fault finding and servicing.
· Explanation of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical systems.
· IRTE Electrical Code of Practice and related wiring and hydraulic schematic diagrams.
· Construction and description of terminology.
· Service and inspection.
