Course programme

They have been developed by LLUK (Life Long Learning in the UK) to replace the Assessor and Verifier Units (A1 and V1) which expired on the 31st of December 2010. They are designed for use in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
For those who already hold the A1 or V1 Awards, those qualifications are still current and valid.
The new units and qualifications will provide people who carry out assessment and internal quality assurance roles in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieve a professional qualification for the role. They have been developed for those working with accredited learning, non-accredited learning, where people may assess performance but do not assess for a qualification. They are designed to support the assessment and quality assurance of all new QCF qualifications including: Apprenticeships, Functional Skills, Technical Certificates, NVQs, Awards, Certificates and Diplomas.
There are 2 assessor awards and a certificate both at level 3.There is an internal quality assurance award and a certificate at level 4.
The qualifications consist of a mix of units - some competence-based and some knowledge- based units. These qualifications will eventually be part of a full framework of qualifications for trainers, assessor and quality assurance personnel.
The course runs for 12 months from date of enrolment beginning with 2 half- day workshops at HLC. This includes the underpinning knowledge requirements, plus practical activities to support Unit 301.
Each candidate will then receive one-to-one meetings/tutorials/observations to support and guide them through to the successful completion of their qualifications. These sessions can take place at HLC or the candidate's workplace.
