About this course

No previous knowledge is required, however it is best practise qualified in a Body Massage Therapy and to have studied Anatomy and Physiology. You will also have to have covered in the last 3 years the Mandatory VR02 and VR74 units or be prepared to cover these before the course. These can be done with a home study pack.

Course review:

The Certificate formalises the traditional techniques of using ear candles therapeutically. As such it makes the basic techniques, updates by research, available to all without adherence to specific manufacturers. The Certificate includes the techniques to be used with candles, massaging the head and face to promote the effects of ear candling and how to advice the client on homecare.

In addition, the effects of Ear Candling process are included and sufficient Anatomy & Physiology to be able to explain these effects. All Health and Safety aspects of use are also included.

How is the course taught?

The course is taught through lectures, visual aids, practical sessions and use of interactive whiteboard.

What equipment will I require?

  • You will not need to purchase candles for the training day and assessment day. Depending on case studies you may have to demonstrate on one or two clients - usually it is only one.
  • You will have to purchase candles for your case studies. These can be ordered directly from the college.
  • Optional purchase of Ear Candling book which can be purchased from college or elsewhere.

How is the course assessed?

  • Two assignments.
  • Case studies covering ranges in Assessment book (usually 3 people 2 times will cover them all).
  • Portfolio/Assessment Book which will be put together with you on the Final Assessment day -one client treatment only- unless a range has not been covered in case study.

Is there any home study?

Yes, you will need to complete the two assignments that will be issued on registration and payment of course. These will have to sent back for marking before training day. Case studies are completed after training day and must be sent back a week before your final assessment day.
