What are the entry requirements?
You will normally need to have at least 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
What will I be doing on the course?
The course is made up of 12 units - six core units which everyone takes (The Travel & Tourism Industry, Business of Travel & Tourism, Marketing, Tourist Destinations, Customer Service and Working in the Travel & Tourism Industry). Plus you will study a further six specialist units including a residential visit to a European destination.
How do I study the course?
A mixture of classroom and project-based work to develop your skills and knowledge. One of the key characteristics of this course is the opportunity to visit a wide variety of tourism venues as part of your studies. *If you are under 19 courses are usually FREE, however, there are some exceptions ie: Professional Accredited Courses (AAT,etc), Microsoft Academy and various short courses. Over 19s will be expected to pay a course fee, however, many people qualify for fee reductions, particularly those in receipt of benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance, Housing Benefit or Income Support. What can I do after this course?
BTEC Nationals are valued by employers and higher education. If you want to get a job straight away you could work in either business or the Travel & Tourism industry.
