Ever wanted to make a short film or music video? Watched documentaries on TV and thought I could do that? This is your chance. Aimed at aspiring writers, producer s and directors – this course will combine theory and practice to give you a good all-round understanding of the highly competitive and exciting TV & Film industries. The course will build upon your passion for filmmaking and is the only TV course working in partnership with a real television station – Notts TV.
- Basics of Video Production: Through practical workshops you’ll learn the basics of video production to give you a strong foundation for the year ahead. You’ll build your skills in camera technology, editing technology and audio production.
- Documentary Filmmaking: Throughout this term you’ll develop documentary filmmaking skills. You’ll practice filmmaking techniques and professional planning before producing your own documentary film.
- Film Theory: During term 3 you’ll develop your theoretical film knowledge to understand the work of film theorists. You’ll then put this into practice to write and direct your own short film production.
- Working Freelance: Throughout this term you’ll develop your ability to work as a freelance video professional, applying those skills whilst working with a musician to develop a music video.
- Screenwriting for TV and Film: It’s all about screenwriting this term as you produce a screenplay for a short film. You’ll also learn basic visual effects and apply these as you make a short trailer for the film of your screenplay.
- Final Project: Taking everything you‘ve learned over two years, you’ll produce your final major project. A film project that allows you to express your ability and show off the type of films that you want to produce, you’ll also develop idents and logos for your film and brand yourself as a company – all supporting you towards progressing onto a degree or straight into your career.
