2. Course description The Extended Diploma in Performing Arts gives you an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into potential career pathways within the performing arts industry. This course will provide you with a strong foundation to help you achieve your goals. You will develop practical performance skills and technical abilities which culminate in a major public performance project at the end of the academic year. This practical course focuses on classical and contemporary acting, physical theatre/movement and dance classes providing the opportunity to develop a range of skills needed for employment within the performing arts industry. Good links with local and national production companies, performance venues and theatre organisations provide valuable opportunities for learning and future employment. This is a 2 year programme delivered as follows: -1st year - Diploma -2nd Year - Extended Diploma Achievement of the 1st year (Diploma) will enable you to progress onto the 2nd year (Extended Diploma)

3. Entry requirements Priority will be given to 16-18 year olds. 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above should include English Language. Students will be required to demonstrate a keen interest in the subject area. An audition is part of the interview process. If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method All coursework is internally assessed regularly and externally verified annually. Students have the opportunity to be graded at full level 3 on their final major project. There is no exam. All students aged 16-19 must study GCSE maths if they have not already achieved a grade C.
