This is a one day course aimed at helping you develop skills and knowledge about dementia. This study day (10am-5pm) will look at ways to recognise the signs and symptoms of dementia in everyday life as well as ways of coping and caring in social settings. We will briefly explore the medical side of dementia to understand the different behaviours displayed and there will be practical sessions with tips and strategies to help you manage and cope as carers. There will also be advice on how and where to get more help. This course will improve your caring of people with dementia.
This course is essential for anyone caring for a relative or friend with dementia as well as those in the service industry who interact with customers displaying signs of dementia.

Course programme
This course will explain the behavioral changes and complex needs of someone living with dementia. The course will enable you to formulate strategies for supportive and meaningful interactions with anyone living with the condition. You will also take part in a non-threatening exercise which helps you to understand the social and emotional losses related to dementia.
