Course Description:
This First Diploma in Health & Social Care has been designed to equip individuals to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to enter employment in the care sector or to move on to other health care courses.
Course Content:
Six units, two core units, covering:
· Communication
· Individual Needs.
Four optional units, covering:
· Vocational Experience
· Cultural Diversity
· Anatomy and Physiology
· Health and Social Care Services.
In addition, you will undertake 60 hours of work experience.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment and the production of a portfolio.
Next Steps:
National Diploma Health and Social Care or employment in the care sector.

Entry Requirements:
You must be aged 16 or over and have achieved four GCSEs at grade E or above, ideally,
including English at grade D or an Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care. Mature students will be considered on an individual basis. A Criminal Records Bureau check, together with a satisfactory reference is a requirement for admission to this course. There will be a computerised assessment of literacy and numeracy skills. Following
interview, attendance at an induction day is required.
