Course Description:

This course will develop an appreciation and understanding of Modern Art and the role it played in shaping and reflecting culture and society from 1850-1980. It will cover the many varied movements and through great artists we will study an extraordinary period of rapid and exciting changes. We will consider the historical, cultural and political frameworks within which these changes took place. Above all we will study the rich and diverse paintings and sculptures that emerged from this time. One visit per term.
