OCR Level 2
Introduction
Computers are a part of everyday life and we use computers more and more in routine jobs at work. But things don†t stand still, the computer skills we learned just a few years ago soon need up-dating. Our UPDATE IT courses are designed to do just that.
Concentrating on the essential skills of word processing, spreadsheets, databases or e-mail, the UPDATE IT programme is designed to bring your IT skills up to speed.
Course Content
The following units are available:
Word Processing
Create documents, integrate files from different applications and use mail merge facilities and formatting techniques in order to produce integrated business documents
Spreadsheets and Graphs
Use Excel to create, edit and format a spreadsheet. Understand the use of complex formulae and functions and create a variety of graphs and charts.
Databases
Use Access to create, maintain and interrogate a a database using complex search criteria. Produce database reports in a variety of report formats.
Electronic Communication
Use Outlook to transmit and receive e-mail messages and attachments. Organise messages, create signatures, use an address book and distribution lists, set diary entries and manage mailbox and folders.
Entry Requirements
Some knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access or Outlook is necessary.
Duration
Each course is an intensive 7- week programme.
Assessment
Each 7-week course specialises on a particular topic for 6 weeks with an assessment being undertaken on the final week. The assessment will be internally marked and externally moderated by OCR.
Progression
On successful completion of 4 units you have the opportunity to top up to a full level 2 ITQ qualification by taking an additional unit that assesses your IT skills at work.
