WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This course is designed to enable you to upgrade and maintain computers. It is suitable for people who use computers but would like to have a better understanding of how computers work. This is a practical course which will also provide you with a good knowledge of computer hardware.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
Upgrade to Operating System to Windows XP
Insall second hard drive
Install extra RAM
Install expansion cards
Install antivirus software
Update drivers
Configure hard drive

WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for the duration of the course on Tuesday evenings from 6.00pm - 9.00pm. You will compile a portfolio of evidence demonstrating the skills and abilities you have learnt. In addition you will be required to read up and complete written homework in your own time as most of the class time will be set aside for practical work.

The course will run on the following dates:

23rd February 2010 - 2i913-09 ( 4 Weeks)
4th May 2010 - 2i914-09 ( 4 Weeks)

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You will obtain an College certificate of attendance.

2i913-09 Course fees 160 16-18 year olds, 160(160) 19 years and over

Course fees are payable on enrolment. Costs shown in brackets are for those on income-based benefits. Refunds are not normally available.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
You will require both Build a PC and Upgrade your PC to progress on to more advanced courses like A+ or PC Support.
