Urban Landscape Painting

Develop skills and strategies to successfully take your painting practice out into the city. Discover the hidden world of London’s riverside and the mesmeric beauty of light on water. On this two day painting course, we will take advantage of Chelsea College of Arts’ central location and set up easels along the Thames Riverbank, where you will have spectacular views of London’s skyline including buildings such as Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye, Battersea Power Station and MI6. By responding directly to the dramatic scale and space of the contemporary urban environment, you will learn how to paint quickly and flexibly and explore the spontaneous creativity that comes out of not having to plan a painting meticulously.

Course Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will have developed confidence in your painting techniques and learned new skills, which you can use in your future practice.
