Course Content: This Technical Award is the first step to becoming a qualified Motor Mechanic; you will study both theory and practical work, with practical assessments taking place in the workshop.

You will cover a wide range of important aspects within this industry including Health and Safety, Foundation Skills, Engines, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems.

This course will present you with a variety of possible pathways including Paint Refinishing; Body Repair; Mechanical Repair (Light and Heavy Goods Vehicles). The Technical Award covers the criteria for phase one of the Modern Apprenticeship Framework for vehicle mechanics therefore it is an ideal programme for progression into employment and to follow a Modern Apprenticeship. Students are required to purchase their own tool bag and tools; this is arranged with the tutor within the first four weeks of the course.

Special Features: You will be working in an environment which mirrors the industry with regards to the tools, machinery and work involved, preparing you for employment within the industry.
